The media are not toys… they can be entrusted only to new artists, because they are art forms.
(McLuhan, 1954)

Film photography is at the heart of my creativity.
In fact, it's always been with me through the work of my grandfather,
who never went digital.
When he died, I got his camera and started shooting with it.
The philosophy of what film photography imposed on me was very appealing,
and I've been doing it ever since.

These days I do less photography, because of my studies,
but I've done a lot of projects based around my film photography,
including two courses and two exhibitions that I've curated and produced.
I'd like to share my work with you.

Sehnsucht

"Sehnsucht" is a German word that is difficult to translate into a single expression in French or English, as it encompasses a complex and deeply emotional concept.

It refers to a feeling of longing or intense desire, often mixed with melancholy, that emerges from the perception of a lack, an unfulfilled desire or a sense of longing for something that is out of reach. It is a feeling of deep longing or yearning for something unreal, distant or inaccessible, whether it be a place, a person, a past moment or even an ideal state of being. It can evoke a bittersweet nostalgia, an unquenchable thirst for something beyond our present reality, but it can also be a source of inspiration and creative impetus. It's a word that captures the idea of the search for an elusive ideal, imbued with an emotional depth and poetry that is untranslatable in many other languages.

KNMD

Production of a video clip with the Clope Sandwich team for the KNMD track Randevu, including filming during the shoot. Having been assistant director on this project, I helped with the writing as well as the composition of the images and the decision-making. The clip shows a knight in his everyday life preparing for his final battle. The whole thing has a very comic and absurd tone.

Nos Cabanes

Work in post-production.

As part of my dissertation project, I chose to create the visual graphics for a short film, Les Cabanes by Armand FOËX and Clément DEVILLIERS. For this project, I was also able to be the set photographer.

This dramatic comedy plunges us into the lives of a group of inseparable friends, Chiara, Louis and Rose, who meet up in Reda's studio to relive past moments through the images he captured three years ago. On the screen, the old balances resurface and the gang have forgotten nothing: the start of their studies, the season of their first fights and their first loves. But above all, these memories bring back the precious presence of Anatole, who still resonates deeply in their lives. It's a story of unfailing friendship, woven of laughter, emotion and nostalgia.
