The media are not toys… they can be entrusted only to new artists, because they are art forms.

Gummy Statue

in progress

During a visit to the Musée d'Orsay, I came across L'Aurore by Denys Puech.

The statue shows an elegant, idealised female figure, stripped naked, emerging from a sculptural form evoking clouds or volutes. Aurora is an allegorical representation of dawn, often personified in Greek and Roman mythology as a goddess bringing the light of day. The statue captures the ethereal moment of sunrise, symbolising renewal, rebirth and the start of a new day.

Amazed by the beauty of this work, I scanned it in 3D, then reworked it in Blender. The unreal shapes reminded me strangely of sweets, so I wanted to develop this idea through texture and composition.
